Illustrator Emma Block wrote an online article for website Ideas Tap
on 'How to design a good business card' in which she lists important
things to consider when designing your business card.
Things to consider:
Do not put your name or number, contact information, too close
to the edge of the card as it may be trimmed off during the printing
process. Typically leave a 3mm edge for the bleed.
Print resolution to 300 dpi, save file as .pdf not .jpg and save into CMYK not RGB.
Do not use a typeface below 8pt and make sure it is in an eligible colour and can be read against the background.
To save on any errors, spelling mistakes that will occur AFTER printing, rendering your business cards useles.
Use the same fonts, colour palettes and images that are on your website to keep your personal branding consistent.
